A company purchases a machinery costing ₹ 4,00,000. Depreciation is to be annually according to straight line method. The usual life of plant is 9 years and its scrap value after 9 years is estimated to be ₹ 40,000.
Calculate the:
(1) Amount of depreciation to be charges every year.
(2) Rate of Depreciation.

(1) Amount of deprecation charges every year
₹ 4,00,000 – 40,000

Total Value – Scrap Value
Useful life of asset

 

 

Deprecation per year= ₹ 40,000
Deprecation * 100
Total value
(2) Rate of depreciation =

₹ 40,000 * 100
₹ 4,00,000
= 10%
Rate of deprecation =10% p.a.
