Controlling is the last function of management in which the actual performance of the employees is measured. It leads to the achievement of pre-decided goals. Its main objective is to ratify the mistakes done by the employees.

Meaning of Controlling:

It refers to measuring the performance and taking the employees’ feedback to check the compatibility and efficiency. It brings back the management cycle to planning and ensures the work according to plan.

In the controlling process a manager taking reports from the employees whether they have achieved the task or not if yes then ok but if they have not reached their task then-manager try no find the cause behind that and resolve the problem accordingly. So this is important for the manager to find out where his employees are doing right and where they are lacking.

“Controlling is a systematic exercise which is called as a process of checking actual performance against the standards or plans with a view to ensure adequate progress and also recording such experience as is gained as a contribution to possible future needs.”

Taking feedback from the employees helps measure the actual performance so that the manager knows where there is a need for improvement or not.

2. Helps in achieving the organizational goals:

With the controlling, an organization can get the best results because it ensures the better utilization of resources.

 3. Making better utilization of resources:

By this, a manager can get good results. like traffic rules controlling always guides to keep on the right path. And better utilization of resources at minimum cost ensures the efficiency of the organization. It is only possible with a controlling function.

4. Ensures Order and Discipline:

A good Control can have checked the employees where they are honest or not. A restricted control ensures the employees bout obeying the rulers and regulations of the organization.
