
The difference between directing and controlling represents the guidance and taking feedback of the employees for meeting the desired goals. Without directing, employees cannot efficiently do their activities. On the other hand, without controlling a manager cannot get the report accurately.
Directing is the fourth main function of management. Without directing a manager cannot get the reporting properly because without giving direction or guidance to the employees a manager cannot achieve the desired productivity that he actually wants. The following examples make the concept more clear:
1)The Production manager guides his workers that how to operate the machines for production.
2) The marketing manager guide and instruct his salesmen that how to increase the sale volume and how to generate a customer.
It refers to measuring the performance and taking the employees' feedback to check the compatibility and efficiency. It brings back the management cycle to planning and ensures the work according to plan.
In the controlling process a manager taking reports from the employees whether they have achieved the task or not if yes then ok but if they have not reached their task then-manager try no find the cause behind that and resolve the problem accordingly. So this is important for the manager to find out where his employees are doing right and where they are lacking.
