If you sat the CBSE Class 12 supplementary examination in 2026 and you think your Accountancy, Business Studies or Economics paper was marked wrongly, you have until 8 September 2026 to apply for verification of marks or re-evaluation. The window opened on 7 September 2026 and it is only two days long.
The dates come from the CBSE notice titled "Notice for Post Result Declaration Facilities to the Students, Class XII Supplementary Examination 2026", dated 27 August 2026, published on cbse.gov.in. That notice is a scanned document, so the detail below is drawn from Careers360's report of 29 August 2026, which sets out the board's schedule and fees.
| Facility | Application window | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Scanned copy of evaluated answer book | 31 August to 1 September 2026 | Rs 100 per subject (processing fee) |
| Verification of marks | 7 and 8 September 2026 | Rs 100 per answer book |
| Re-evaluation | 7 and 8 September 2026 | Rs 100 per question |
There is a catch in that order. CBSE requires you to apply for the scanned copy first. Only candidates who obtained the scanned answer book through the prescribed process are eligible to apply for verification or re-evaluation. If you skipped the 31 August to 1 September window, the 7-8 September window is not open to you.
Applications and fee payment are entirely online. Anything submitted after the deadline, or offline, will not be accepted. Payment is accepted only by UPI, credit card, debit card or net banking.
CBSE's own advice is the sensible starting point. When your scanned answer book arrives, check three things:
Those three checks catch clerical errors, and clerical errors are what verification is designed to fix. Re-evaluation is a different thing: it is a fresh judgement on your answer, and it carries risk.
Re-evaluation is available only for the theory portion of the paper. It is conducted for the full question, not for one part of a question. If you ask for a five-mark question to be looked at again, the whole five marks are back in play, not just the part you disagree with.
The board has cautioned that marks can go up or they can go down, and that even a decrease of one mark will be taken into account. The result of re-evaluation is final; no appeal or review against it will be entertained. CBSE has also asked students and parents to rely on official board communication rather than unverified social media posts.
Students seeking re-evaluation have been advised to refer to the relevant marking scheme and give reasoning with the request.
That last instruction is the useful one for a commerce student. Asking for re-evaluation without the marking scheme in front of you is guesswork. In Accountancy especially, marks are stepwise. A partnership question carries marks for the correct treatment of goodwill, for the revaluation entries, for the partners' capital accounts and for the closing balance sheet, and an examiner who has taken off marks at one step may have carried the error forward.
Before you write your reasoning, work the question again properly and see where your treatment actually diverges. Our Class 12 Financial Accounting section has step-by-step working for the standard question types, and the book solutions library covers the same questions as they appear in T.S. Grewal, Unimax, USHA and V.K., so you can compare your answer against the exact numbering in the book you studied from.
If you were carrying a compartment in Business Studies rather than Accountancy, the Business Studies section is the place to check whether your answer covered the points the marking scheme expects, since theory papers are usually marked on identified points rather than on prose.
And whichever way this goes, the next attempt is the one worth preparing for. Timed practice on the question types that cost you marks is more productive than waiting on a re-evaluation outcome you cannot appeal. The practice section is set up for exactly that.
The board's own notice sits on the CBSE website at cbse.gov.in, listed under Latest @ CBSE and dated 27 August 2026. Since the official PDF is a scan, confirm the exact links and any last-minute change on the CBSE site itself before you pay anything.
